Discover how EUROMAC2 revolutionizes soundproofing!

Noise pollution can quickly become a daily hell. When building your home, it's essential to choose the most effective materials to reduce noise.

Polystyrene formwork blocks and insulating formwork slabs are an innovative solution offering numerous construction advantages. In addition to their lightness, ease of installation and superior thermal insulation properties, these blocks also boast outstanding acoustic properties.

1. Reducing environmental noise with EUROMAC2 blocks

Polystyrene formwork blocks are designed to absorb and attenuate external noise, providing optimum acoustic insulation inside buildings. This feature is particularly advantageous in noisy urban areas or near traffic arteries.

Polystyrene is renowned for its ability to absorb sound waves. Thanks to its honeycomb structure and composition, it converts sound energy into thermal energy, reducing the propagation of unwanted noise through walls. Since polystyrene is used throughout our walls, our construction system is equally effective in limiting noise from adjoining rooms.

Insulating formwork slabs are perfect for insulating your floor. They are ideal for condominiums and apartment buildings, to protect against footfall noise from upper floors. The result is a quieter, more pleasant indoor environment.

2. But also vibration reduction...

In addition to its effectiveness in absorbing sound waves, polystyrene also plays a crucial role inisolating vibrations from outside sources, such as road traffic or industrial activities. Our polystyrene form blocks act as shock absorbers , absorbing pressure waves and minimizing the propagation of vibrations through walls.

3. Sound absorption capacities of EUROMAC2 insulating formwork blocks measured at CSTB

Our formwork blocks have passed through the hands of the CSTB to measure their sound absorption capacity:

  • The attenuation index (Rw) = 50 dB (-1 ; -4). This is the value assigned to the reduction in sound intensity between two points located on either side of an obstacle.
  • Rw + C = 49 dB. This represents insulation against interior neighbourhood noise.
  • Rw + Ctr = 46 dB. This figure corresponds to noise insulation for transport infrastructures and land or airport activities.

Our polystyrene formwork blocks are even more effective than brick or breeze-block in reducing surrounding noise. They offer very high acoustic performance in both interior and exterior insulation, and are qualified for use in high-noise areas.

Polystyrene formwork blocks and slabs therefore offer an innovative, high-performance solution for noise reduction in buildings. Their ability to acoustically insulate interior spaces helps create a calm, comfortable environment conducive to well-being. Whether for residential or commercial projects, the use of these blocks is a wise choice for optimizing occupants' quality of life .
