What we are asked most often.

A single EUROMAC2 block fulfils four functions: load-bearing wall, internal insulation, external insulation and airtightness. Where a conventional build chains together trades and interventions, you have just one installation. Assembly is around 35% faster, with no scaffolding or lifting equipment.

Add to that the savings in use: up to 50% on the energy bill, every year and for the whole life of the house.

On material price per square metre alone, the concrete block remains cheaper. On the cost of a finished, insulated and airtight house, the comparison plays out differently. Costing your project is free: it is the only way to get an accurate answer.

That is the case for most builders who start with us, and it is not an obstacle. Training takes one day, installation plans and guides are provided, and our team assists at the start of the build.

The elements weigh 6 to 12 kg per m², where concrete blocks come in at around 221 kg. Assembly is done by hand, by interlocking, without lifting equipment. You remain free to choose your contractor or builder.

EUROMAC2 is a manufacturer, not a contractor. We manufacture, we study your project, we deliver to site and we assist during the build. The building warranty is carried by the company that does the work, exactly as with any other building material. You choose that company freely, and we train it if it wishes.

If you are planning to build yourself, one point to anticipate: without a contractor's warranty, obtaining a bank loan is more difficult. Best to discuss it with your bank early in the project.

EUROMAC2 has been manufacturing in France since 1976 and more than 28,000 projects have been completed. The process holds a CSTB technical approval, a European technical assessment (ETA, DIBt), CE marking and verified environmental declarations (FDES) filed in the INIES database.

All these documents are public. You will find them in our Resources area, and we will send them to you on request.

It is even one of the material's strengths. Expanded polystyrene is rot-proof: it does not go mouldy, does not rot and does not degrade over time. It receives no chemical treatment, unlike timber, which has to be treated against insects and fungi.

It also has no nutritional value: neither insects, termites nor rodents find anything to feed on.

For indoor air, the material holds the continuously renewed Zone Verte Excell label, which attests to its harmlessness: no pollutant detected in significant quantities. The polystyrene used is pFR grade, compliant with the REACH regulation. And unlike fibrous insulation, it releases no fibres into the air.

It is the opposite of what you might imagine. The concrete core poured at the heart of the wall keeps all its thermal mass: it stores the coolness of the night and releases it during the day. The external insulation blocks the heat before it reaches the concrete.

This is precisely where EUROMAC2 stands out. The ties that connect the two faces of the block are made of steel. To our knowledge, we are the only manufacturer of insulating formwork blocks to make this choice: most systems on the market use plastic ties, which melt and open a path for fire between the two faces. Steel does not melt and does not spread flame.

The outer face, rendered with the renders specified for the process, is classified B-s1,d0: it does not spread flame, gives off very little smoke and produces no flaming droplets. The fire resistance of the complete wall, concrete included, depends on the lining chosen and is given in the technical approval, available in our Resources and on request.
